Eight Basic Footbag Pick Ups
We all know that the easiest way to impress and pick up chicks in public is to whip off your pants (wearing shorts underneath of course) and start busting out huge footbag tricks. Well, okay, maybe not. I apologize: I’ve digressed before I even got started. The “pick ups” I’m referring to here are firstly to be distinguished from cheesy pick-up lines, and secondly from pickups (of the around the world sort - one of my favorite ending move components, see for example, this blog post). Even the best players drop from time to time, and these are some of the “Pick Ups” that one might see following such a drop:
A few notes, disclamers on the above video:
- Be extremely careful using any of these techniques on the upper line products that we sell in our shred shop, including the Mr. Sandbag (which, incidentally, I was using here), as improper execution can literally rip open your bag instantly (particularly when performing the “chicken scratch” on pavement).
- Additionally, use extreme caution when first learning either of the “ankle breaker” pick up versions - they are aptly named! Start out with only a part of your body weight and make sure you have the proper flexibility before proceeding. If it hurts, don’t do it! Once you’ve developed enough flexibility you will be able to do these moves without pain.
- None of the names I listed are “official”. For the record, I don’t believe any of these moves have officially recognized names. I simply made up “Special Delivery” and “Heliup” on the spot. The “Heluip” is the only trick shown that I’d not seen anyone else do prior to me doing it (many years ago). And, I came up with the Rai Flick after doing a quick Google search, since I knew this had to have a name in Soccer (Football). It turns out the trick is named after RaĆ Souza Vieira de Oliveira who, interestingly, became a social activist after winning the 1994 World Cup.
