Fire Footbag Banned In South Australia
We’ve been selling the Fire Footbag, which is made in Australia, for quite some time now. Unfortunately, due to new regulations imposed by South Australia’s Office of Consumer and Business Affairs, the product has been banned from Export. We have a limited amount of stock left, and once it’s gone this item will be permanently discontinued (UPDATE: Back in stock as of June 11th, 2009!).
The Fire Hack is absolutely not intended for unsupervised use by minors. This is why Freedom Footbags requires that customers be at least 18 years of age to purchase it. It is extremely dangerous, and must be used responsibly.
According to The Age, a longstanding newspaper (now online) in Victoria, Australia, South Australia’s Consumer Affairs Minister Jennifer Rankine had this to say about the fire footbag:
The Fire Footbag essentially becomes a flaming missile which presents extreme safety risks for people who could quite easily be burned by the footbag once it’s been set alight… Making such a dangerous item available to children or anyone else is absurd and unacceptable.
