See the Footbag, Hit the Footbag
Even if you play with an Abshire Mini footbag, according to a Science Daily article, if you can think it’s bigger, maybe you’ll do better!!
The interactions between mind and body – perception and action – may be as interlinked as athletes believe them to be, according to Jessica K. Witt, a cognitive psychology doctoral candidate at the University of Virginia.
Of course, they’re actually talking about a study they did with baseball players:
When Mickey Mantle hit a 565-foot home run he said, “I just saw the ball as big as a grapefruit.” But Joe “Ducky” Medwick of the St. Louis Cardinals said during a slump that he was “swinging at aspirins.”
… but I think this concept applies to footbag as well. It may not mean that better players see the bag as “bigger” per se, but I think there’s definitely something to this. What do you think? (comment!!)

Right on, that dude’s mysterious. It’s awesome to have some insight into his mind/thoughts on footbag, etc.

There’s definitely a connection. I’ve had some rare days when I play really well.. I remember the bag moving slower and being more clear in my mind. (Maybe not bigger) I seemed to have more time to execute moves etc. I just read an article about a piano teaching method that makes students play all the notes in their minds..know the music in their heads before they play. I thought that was pretty cool….And related to this post… Somehow.
